Cocoa Beach, Florida: Day 4

Today we spent the day at Cocoa Beach, Florida. We love going to the beach when we are on vacation and this was a perfect spot! We got there around 2:00 this afternoon (we are kind of late risers due to the time change). We found a great spot that wasn't too crowded. We had packed a lunch and brought cold drinks so we were ready for the day!
We discovered that the water in the Atlantic Ocean is much warmer and cleaner than the Pacific Ocean. I can't remember a time when we went swimming in California when it wasn't filled with seaweed and so cold that it was uncomfortable to go in. The water in Florida was great! The water temperature must have been in the upper 80s - just how I like the water in the pool!
Shortly after we got in the water, a seal or sea lion swam about 20 feet away from us! It shocked us more than anything but was very cool to see. We also saw a few dolphins swimming much further out in the ocean.
Cocoa Beach is very close to Port Canaveral where all of the cruise ships leave from. We saw several of them sail off into the ocean for their unforgetable journey. We would love to take the girls on a cruise some day soon.
The day ended with Ciara getting 'bitten/sucked on' by some sort of snail. It was about 2 inches long and had a very skinny shell. It just latched on to the bottom of her foot. She freaked out and was hopping all around. I tried to hold her up as she was thrashing about hopping on one foot. She was able to pull it off but it sort of ruined the rest of the day. We got out of the water and the girls were ready to go. It was almost 6:00 by then and I was pretty well fried. Time to head home and get some lotion on this pink skin of mine!
