Our first full day in Williamsburg was spent visiting downtown Colonial Williamsburg. Williamsburg is part of the Historic Triangle which is made up of three cities – Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown. We saw the different buildings and famous battlefields of the Revolutionary War. This is the land of our founding fathers - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Patrick Henry – who helped establish the ideals of liberty, independence, and personal freedom.
The Governor’s Palace was built in 1722. It was the residence of the Virginia’s royal governor.
The Capitol was the site of many important political events. People were dressed up in colonial wear as they gave information to each building.
After leaving Colonial Williamsburg, we traveled around the loop to visit the Jamestown Settlement. Sadly to say, we were all exhausted so we didn’t stop in to see the museum.
